How to Obtain Residency in the United States

To apply for this application you will have to prove that you are a citizen or national of Cuba and have lived continuously for at least one year in the United States. Only then could you apply for legal permanent residence in the country.

Subsection: General Requirements

  • Have entered the United States after January 1st, 1959.
  • Be born in Cuba or be a citizen of Cuba.
  • Have entered legally or with a Parole (I-94 and I-212 D5).
  • Have been in the United States for more than one year.
  • Be acceptable for entry into the United States.
  • Not have a pending court case.

Requirements to apply for Cuban Adjustment

  • Have entered the United States after the date of January 1st, 1959 onwards.
  • Be born in Cuba or be a citizen of Cuba.
  • Have entered the United States legally or with a Parole (I-94 and I-212 D5).
  • Have been in the United States for more than one year.
  • Be acceptable for entry into the United States.
  • Not have a pending court case.

How to Prove Your Cuban Citizenship

If you were born in Cuba

  • Expired or valid Cuban passport indicating your place of birth.
  • Cuban birth certificate issued by the Cuban civil registry.

If You Were Born Outside Cuba

  • Valid Cuban passport.
  • Certificate proving your nationality.
  • Letter of Citizenship.

You acquire your permanent residency.
